For those of you that don't know about the Fort Pierce Bengals and what we are about let me explain....... Yes, we are a Semi Pro football team Located in Fort Pierce, Florida Yes, our players are 18 & up and are considered grown men. Allot of these young men are trying to do something POSITIVE and go off to college or maybe even play pro ball whether that be NFL, CFL, ARENA. Here's what you probably don't know, we ARE A NON PROFIT Organization which means our owner, coaches or players don't make a dime!!! The players have to pay a fee to help pay for uniforms and playing fields, the coaches come out our own pockets and take away from our families to give these young men a chance. Now this is the problem I have with OUR COMMUNITY, it seems like everybody got these great ideas of what to do to help our community and help these young men stay out of trouble, but y'all WON'T SUPPORT something that's been here and been doing this for years!!! We have partnered up and put on peace walks, candle light vigils, donated money we didn't even really have to causes within the community but can't even get the COMMUNITY to come out and sit in the stands to SUPPORT us!!! We had 2 players, Dtruth and Peanut shot and killed in the same streets we are trying to help clean up!! If we were to shut down where you think these 40-55 young men going to go?? Right back in these streets!! What we NEED to do as a COMMUNITY is SUPPORT the causes that are already here and stop trying to always be ONE UP on everybody else. I've been doing this for 12 years now and I can't count on one hand how many so called community leaders and pastors and commissioners have left empty promises, I've never wanted recognition or an award for this, my reward would be leading these young men out of the locker room and seeing the look on their faces that the stadium is FULL of people there to SUPPORT them!! I'm sure their would be plenty tears of joy that night, but hey we can't support each other, we're like crabs in a bucket trying to pull each other down to make it to the top!!!
